Welcome to language_learning!

This is a general post where we can introduce ourselves and meet those who speak or are studying the languages we want to learn. As the community grows, I will add language-specific posts geared towards matching people up with conversation partners, but let's start here and find out who on DW is learning a language!

Location: Medellín, Colombia
Home country: Colombia
Languages you speak/sign/read/understand: I am a native English speaker (I grew up in the US from a young age) and also speak Spanish fluently, I also have some understanding of French and Italian
Languages you have studied or are studying: French all through school and a couple course in college, ASL (though just very basic) and I've been wanting to learn German
Current language learning goals: Get back into French, I really would like to reach a high level of fluency - Learn some more German, and start back with Italian and maybe even Chinese
Favorite language learning tool or resource: I don't know - any language tools that I know of are for English, as I am an ESL/EFL teacher
Would you like others who are learning or speak your target languages to add/contact you?: Sure! I don't mind helping anyone with what I can and I'd love to get more into my own target languages :D

Welcome! This is definitely going to be a welcome space for ESL/EFL students--I'll be doing the mod posts in English, but if you ever wanted to do a post in Spanish for Spanish-speaking EFL/ESL students, for example, that would be awesome. Or what I may do is when I set-up posts for different languages where students of that language can specifically exchange info and introductions, I may have an ESL/EFL post that's in English, French, and German and perhaps you could provide Spanish, with others providing any other languages that they speak. I'm assuming most people on DW speak a fair amount of English, simply because the site interface is in English, but I could be wrong.

I can try - but I have to admit, that my Spanish is pretty damn rusty. LOL. I grew up in the States and the only Spanish I had was my parents at home and 2 years in high school. But, I'll give it a go! If not, I have some Spanish speaking/writing f-listers who may be interested. I'll be giving a signal boost for the comm in my post later tonight.

And I'm with you on that assumption, or maybe if they don't speak it - they understand it well enough.

Also - I love the community icon!
